Description:
This rare and very large coffee is printed in blue with a pattern named “Fringed Parasol”. Brown enamel bands have been added overglaze to the pot and the lid. It is printed with a complex, intriguing pattern: In the section with checkered (tile) floor or plaza, a reserve contains two figures standing under a fringed parasol. This reserve is applied next to an outdoor scene consisting of a large and ornate gate through which other buildings can be seen in the background. Large flowers and plants are added to the design. The pattern used for this extraordinarily large piece was made up of several smaller pieces skillfully pieced together to cover the area. A Rococo style border was applied to the top of the vessel and on the cover. Recorded in the TCC Pattern and Source Print Database.
Condition: Good: Professional restoration to 3 hairline cracks in the body and chip on the spout.
